
This month we are having an old-fashioned Chili Cookoff featuring two Lions and two Lunch Bunch regulars. Here is what each of them have said about their Chili:
Lion Candi Claussen: Smoked pulled port in Big Dog BBQ’s signature sauce with beans and veggies.
Lion Donna McCrea: Yummy Chili that makes my mouth water. The Grocery Outlet Newport Crew’s favorite chile.
Jo Crooks: Vegan with mushrooms as a substitute for meat. If you’ve had chili at Solstice, you’ve had my vegan chili before.
Calista Snively: My delicious chili has 20 ingredients. I use dry beans, ground beef, Italian sausage, and a coup of my secret ingredients in my hearty chili.
David will be making Skillet Cornbread (butter and honey in abundance) and there will be a Green Salad. For dessert, Nina Doremus be making us Zucchini Cupcakes with Cream Cheese frosting. The August Lunch Bunch will be on Thursday, August 21st, at 1200N at the Yachats Lions Hall.
All in attendance will be able to sample each chili and then vote on their favorite. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to the Lions Thrift Store.
A donation of $5 is suggested but no one will be turned away from a hot meal.
