This month we have a special guest chef, Bernard (Tiger) Naea cooking for us. From his years of growing up and living on the Island of Kauai he will be making us Shoyu Chicken and Hawaiian Potatoe Macaroni Salad. Accompanying it will be both brown and white rice and a green salad. For dessert, David will be making another recipe out of Merriman’s Hawaii cookbook – Pineapple Upside-Down Cake in a skillet. The July Lunch Bunch will be on Thursday, July 17th, 1200N at the Yachats Lions Hall.
We will also be having a local guest speaker, Joe Smolen, who will share with us one of his short stories, Sentimental Journeys Home, at the start of the meal. Having many affections in Portland, Oregon, he is late of the U.S. Navy, countless lumber yards and the Seattle Times. With the ghost of their black Standard Poodle Rico Suave, Joe and his wife Sherrie live on the Oregon Coast in a really pretty good Prairie Style house they built themselves. His stories and works can be found at Joe C. Smolen.
A donation of $5 is suggested but no one will be turned away from a hot meal.
