Oregon’s Historic Coastal Bridges – September 14th

Crossings Guide

Yachats Lions Hall, Doors open at 130p and starts at 200p

Judy Fleagle – Local Author from Florence

Judy will cover the historic bridges’ designed by Conde B. McCullough, the iconic coastal bridges, and her two bridge books. Expect many anecdotes from old-timers that were interviewed when writing the books and her adventures of marketing the books. The two books are Crossings: McCullough’s Coastal Bridges and The Crossings Guide to Oregon’s Coastal Spans.

Judy Fleagle graduated from college with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in English. She made good use of them by spending 22 years teaching first and second grades in Los Gatos, CA and 21 years as editor/staff writer for Oregon Coast and Northwest Travel magazines. After retiring in 2009, Judy embarked on a third career as an author. Since then, she has written seven books for a total of four regional and four personal books.

It took her a year working all day every day to write Crossings. It is the book she is most proud of. The Crossings Guide took much less time because the information was already in her head. Because of her years at Oregon Coast magazine, she knew some of the best coastal photographers and was able to obtain the photos she wanted for the Guide. She is known as the “The Bridge Lady of the Oregon Coast.”
